20 min to an hour depending on the appointment if you are going through a canned script. I don't go from a script and can easily run from 1-2 hours. I went on a 3.5 hour appointment last week, but that included time visiting the horses, etc.

Of course there are many variations but you should budget 2 hours for the life insurance and mortgage protection and 3 hours for annuities. You'll also want to budget 1 hour for travel, even if the appointments are close to each other. The 1 hour gives you a buffer in case you go long with an appointment. As you gain experience you will be able to anticipate many questions and answer them in your presentation. This will cut the time drastically. Be aware that many people will miss the appointment so make sure you have something to do during that down time.

The question is who do you have setting the appointments and where are the leads coming from. If you are doing it yourself you need to set aside time to do it. Setting the appointment can take as long or longer than the actual appointment.

Four appointments per day is pretty ambitious, not because of the time per appointment but because of the time finding and setting the appointment. When you are just starting out 4 appointments per week is more likely.

It should take no longer than an hour. 30 minutes to evaluate their finances and 30 mintues to put a plan together and explain it to them.
